I have an old savage 24v-a .222/20ga.o/u that i want to refinish but cannot figure out how to separate the receiver from the stock. Also i need a replacement forestock. any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
    My own Savage over/under is long gone, but I'm thinking if you remove the buttplate you'll find a "carriage bolt" at the end of a deep hole. If it's just a standard hex head, then a ratchet with extension should do it. If a broad slot, then a long shafted screwdriver or sometimes even a tire iron with tappered tip for popping hubcaps.
    Good luck. Hope that's it. I'd do a search on the auction side for the wood you need.
