New FFL - need contacts with distributors

I'm brand new - still waiting for my registration with VA's State Police before I can get started.

Now that I have an FFL. how do I make connections with firearm makers or distributors?

I know that some manufacturers won't want to deal with a smaller dealer - 1 or 2 at a time (or will they?). How would I find a distributor that will?

When I got my ffl I started getting catalogs from wholesalers. I suppose they have some way of learning a dealer ffl has been issued.

If you are anxious just find out the phone numbers of some wholesalers and fax them your ffl. I am a small dealer operating out of the building that also serves as my residence. I concentrate my purchases with one wholesaler but still get catalogs from several others each year.

Jerry's if you can pick up your orders...their shipping and handling kills you if you are ordering from them. Jerry's would be a good start in your situation. You might also check out Davidson's...if you can manage a 10 gun buy in, you can get discounted prices and their shipping is FAR, FAR cheaper than Jerry's.

    WearyTraveler,

Ellet Brothers is another company to get in touch with. Google them, and you will see them listed first.

Look this is easy, When I got my FFL I bought a copy of shotgun news and looked at their ads and found the ones that I wanted to buy from and sent them a copy of my FFL and they sent me a copy of their product catalog and you are on their mailing list as long as you keep up your FFL status. You will get mailing offers from all different people wanting to sell you products, some that you need your FFL and some that you don`t.

I sujest that you do attend atleast one SHOT Show and drop a few copies of your FFL there also. There you can be face to face with the sales person and talk about what you want and need. Tell him or her that you are just getting started and that you would appreciate their help with some products. I will bet that you will not have any problems. Before you know it it will a couple of years down the road and you will have all kinds of people sendng you pamplets for new products.

    Shop wisily and good luck.
