1892 Winchester 44/40

Hi i Just got a model 1892 44/40 winchester. Serial # 7079XX.The barrell is Octagon and 20".Just wondering if there is any value in it?Here are some pics.http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=244978&id=635421471&l=f4b091d4c8

I also got this old JGA .22 and was wonderinf if u guys knew anything about this 1 also.

    The Winchester is a short rifle which is less common than a 24" barreled rifle or a carbine. It doesn't have much finish, though.
    There is surely still some value there. Did you have to pay for it when you got it?

    The JGA .22 is an Anschutz product but is a simple plinker without much in common with their fine and expensive target rifles. It looks pretty rusty, too. Not worth a whole lot in my book.

    No the winchester was handed down to me and the .22 i belive i heard someone say it was made late 1800's any way i could find out for sure when it was made?

    Bert H., our resident Winchester expert, should be along later and may be able to give you the correct manufacture date and a fair evaluation, although he may have a few questions first. Keep checking back as he is located on the west coast.

    Winchester Model 1892 serial number 707900 was manufactured in late April of 1913.
