Harrington and Richardson Topper ID

I found a rusted hulk of a Harrington and Richardson Topper M48 with a serial number H 644xx. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can find out some info on it? The stock is missing, and natures weld has prevented it from ever functioning again, but it might make a neat wall hanger if it has any history. Thanks.

It was made during 1947 - that's about all the info you're going to be able to get on that individual piece. The original H&R Arms Co. went out of business in Jan. 1986 and all the records were turned over to the BATFE. Perhaps you can research the past owners of the property on which it was found, do newspaper searches on any of the names you come up with. Pretty complicated for a wall hanger, but perhaps you can find out something. Good hunting!
