I'll soon have a HP 45 carbine and would like to put a red dot on it.. Any suggestions from the experts would be appreciated. Money is a consideration I might add.
Thanks in advance

Pretty hard to beat this, http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=OSPMRS&src=tpCtgOp

I have a few and work well for what they are. They are the same as the others in the same style costing up to $100.

It if breaks or dies not that much to be out. The one I have been running the hardest is over 3 years old now and still going strong.

I think something like that will probably work fine for a .45 carbine for casual/emergency use.

If I knew I were going to into combat, I'd spend the money on something tougher.

Also, despite the "holo" name, that sight does NOT use a holographic reticle. None of the true holographic reticle sights are what you might call "cheap" and so far as I know, none of them offer swappable reticles.

The BSA tube style sights are also reasonably good for what they cost, and those should be a little tougher, if you think you're likely to bang them up a lot.

With any of these low end sights, batteries are usually the limiting factor. You have to be careful to switch them off when done using them (and not accidentally switch back on), or the next time, the battery will be drained.

There are some reasonable red/green dots available. What do you want to spend and application?

This carbine isn't known as a tack driver...but I would like to have some fun with it at between 25 and 100 yards (paper, cans, zombies...sort of sharpen my skills before moving upwards to something else. I need a new hobby the BBQ circut is getting old after 25 years[:)]

I would like to spend about a 100 bucks tops.

    Thanks for your time.

I think the one I have is Target Sports. It was very economical(cheap), battery life is very good(still on the original), keeps point of aim well. It has been on an AR15 for a few thousand rounds and has been in use for about 8 years. Only downside is the adjustments are backwards, which isn't a problem after you figure out why it won't adjust properly.

I like the Bushnell TRS-25. you can get them from Cabelas for 99.00. It is a very nice little red dot for the money.
