10mm options

Ok so I love the 10mm. A few years ago I bought an EAA Tanfoglio that's made in Italy. Great pistol that I love.

But I want one in the 1911 platform. I have done some research that suggests shooting the full power 10mm loads in the 1911 platform can break down the gun rapidly. I have looked at the Colt Delta Elite but honestly I am leaning towards a Kimber TLE. I love Kimber and have had great experience with their customer service.

Any information or experience would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time.

I guess kimber's people liked you better than me. I guess they don't care about the "yellow brotha" or future business from me. I got to wait 6+ months to get a new frame. If the frame breaks they'll charge you $250 and you get to re-do the paperwork since they won't give you a new frame with the old serial number. Also shipping to kimber. UPS was $75 at the time. Oh they did throw in two magazines. They sit in their package to collect dust.

Figure metallurgy's come a bit since the '90's. Slap in a heavier recoil spring and maybe a recoil buffer you're good to go. Don't know if the kimber can handle Norma rated 10mms 100% of the time.

Now if it were me I'd get a .45ACP/10mm 1911 combo. Running 10mm if you don't roll your own will add up quick. I suppose if you just bought the 10mm without the .45ACP bits you save some money for ammo.

Hello - I have a Springfield Omega in 10mm and a Glock 20. Bambihunter on this forum has many different types of 10mm's. You can look at any of the 10mm inquiries on Ask the Experts and you will find him and you can use the envelop icon to reach him directly. The 1911 style he likes and that I am trying to find is the Star Megastar. Best Regards - AQH

I just got a couple of the Rock Island 10 mm tactical 1911's in and they look pretty good and cost half of what a Kimber does. Part # 151993

I just got a Rock Island so far I'm quite satisfied with it. My favorite 10mm is still my S&W 610 looking to add one of the Smith semi autos to the collection sometime soon

Rock Island Armory!! I stumbled upon one 6 months ago for a whopping $525 and what fun. With the fiber optic sights it's a keeper. This thing barks fire and slings death, one coyote down now it's deer season, so it's staying on my hip, just because I can. [8D]

Lotta fun banging steel targets. I've shot 200 rounds so far, used both magazines, no malfunctions. It has moved to number 1 as my house go to gun, lotta critters out here on a dead end dirt road in the middle of nowhere.[8]

Ok I have looked at the Rock Island but have my doubts about durability. One of my co-workers has one in .45 and its a POS. Broken extractor among other issues.

The Sig P220 now comes in 10mm for about the same price as the Kimber my experience with Kimber hasn't been all that favorable with the last 2 that I had
