Need user info,(and suggestions) on the CZ-527. Probably in a .204 Ruger. Other suggestions????? Have they corrected the safety issue?, as in "is it on safe when the lever is back? Is it D&T for scope bases THX Keith

I have three CZ527's. Since I have had them for quite a while, I assume they are of an early vintage. The safeties on mine are the opposite of what we are used to; that is, forward is safe, back is fire. My rifles have the male dovetails on the receiver (similar to Ruger) and take specific CZ rings (Burris also makes rings for them) and are not D&T for bases.

The CZ safeties haven't changed. I have a few of their rifles and found them very well made and always, always accurate. Much as I like how easily adjustable the factory trigger is their design makes them just a bit less crisp than they should be. The trigger moves a sear which then pivots and allows the rifle to fire. That separate piece makes the pull a bit softer than a Remington 700 or the old Winchester 70. I admit this is being a bit nit picky.

CZ mounts are a bit high, owing to the factory bolt handle. There are aftermarket replacements that allow for lower mounting. CZ makes a replacement for about $20.00.

My current 527s are in 222 Remington, 22 Hornet and a carbine in 7.62X39. I like them alot.

Same here, three old CZ527s with the reverse safety/fire. I didn't think it was a problem and got use to it. Just remember, "stop and think" the safety locks the bolt - so check safety by trying to raise the bolt handle => locked bolt == safety on

I just picked up a 527 Varmint in .17 hornet. I bought a set of Leupold medium height rings. Scope is a Leupold FXIII 12x40 and it clears the bolt.

My Dad would have loved it, he always thought the safety on a hammerless gun ought to work like a hammer, pull back to fire.
