Remington Mosin Nagant question

I have the barrel, trigger, action, etc. to a 1917 Remington-made Mosin Nagant. Need the furniture. Will the stock from a more recent 91/30 Mosin fit? Or were the Remington stocks differently sized? Thank you for your help.

It can be made to fit, barrel length and receiver shape are not the same.
When I get back from the doctor I'll look at my 1891 and my 91/30 side by side and see what it will take.

The Remington is a Model 91, and it has a hex shaped receiver. The barrel is longer than a Model 91/30, and the rear sight base is slightly different. Most Model 91/30s had round receiver rings, however you will find some earlier 91/30s with hex receivers (reworked 91s as the Soviets were trying to standardize)

You will be far better off trying to locate a M91 stock.
Another note- for originality's sake, I believe the Remingtons were stocked in walnut, not the common birch the Russians used.

    Regards,
    Chris

It would take a little sanding in the barrel channel and front receiver ring area.
It would be better to find a American walnut stock but there are plenty of restocked MN rifles out there. The Finns reworked and restocked thousands.
The barrel would stick out about 6 inches past the stock but at least you could shoot it while keeping an eye out for a better stock.
