What is a boxlock action?

    It is easier to show you than to try to tell you.1. Go to the auction section of this board - forthehunt. Go to modern shotguns. Put number 2587432 in the search area. It is a LeFever sidelock. Note how the metal plates extend a considerable way back on the stock. (For the rest of you - yes, I know it is not a "true" sidelock - but externally they look the same.)2. Next search for number 2626449. This is a Zoli box-lock. Notice that there are NO long metal plates extending back on the stock.3.
