I have a small pistol that I cannot identify. I would like to know the maker, the year and the value if it is in fair condition. It is a four barrel .22 cal. with the word "ITALY" written on the right side near the end of the barrel. It has what appears to be a hallmark and the roman numerals "XVIII". The hallmark is barely legible. It has a crest with a star above it. The star is encircled. I cannot make out what is inside the crest except that it has two swords that cross each other. The barrel also has the initials "EIG" within the design of a scope sight. On the left side of the barrel it has an inscription reading, "Use standard velocity cal. 22 short, long or long rifle cartridges". (all caps) The pin revolves to the next barrel. The gun doesn't appear to be an antique.I can send a picture if it will help. Thanks, James

You have a replica of a Sharps 4 barrel deringer. I have one mine says Uberti on it. I believe they were imported in the early 60's under several names. As for value I bought mine used for $50.00 about 9 months ago. It's not in my older copy of the blue book.WOODS[This message has been edited by woodsrunner (edited 12-07-2001).]

I have a 4 barrel derringer im my book imported by Advantage Arms.Book says about $200 but I can't imagine a EIG being worth that much.I have a EIG (Frontier Scout knock off) made in Germany.[This message has been edited by 22WRF (edited 12-07-2001).]

Hi jrhx:I don't know squat about derringers. But I do know about shotguns and about Italian proof marks. The "crest" with the crossed armament and circled star above it says the proof house is Gardone and not Bresica. The roman numerals says the gun was made in 1962.
