Interested in purchasing a boresighter and confused which may be the best. Options are both laser and optic type and wish to be advised which may provide best results.

Save your money - try this first- Put your gun on sandbas where it is stable. Take bolt out of rife and look through the barrel from the chamber end. pick out a small target about 100 yds away and center it in the barrel as you look through it. Then without moving rife look though you scope and you will see where the crosshairs are. Just make the necessary clicks until crosshairs are on the same target. This method works for me. Of course only on a bolt gun or something you can look through the barrel from the chamber end. You can do it at home throught the picture window off the coffee table. Good luck.

I just got one of the new Leupold boresighter, and it works well. It uses a magnet to hold it to the muzzle, so you don't have to worry about different arbors for different calibers. And, it was < $50.Neal

I use a Bushnell collimator with arbors for most calibers and one for muzzleloaders and one for a 12 guage. It works fine, though I have been thinking about a laser type.

Earlier this year I wathced as a guy did like Haedpuller was talking about. The only difference is that he put one of those small laser pins in the bor and moved the recticle onto the red dot. I didn't think it would work, and probably wouldn't believe it now if I had not seen it with my own eyes.

Now there is a really dollar saving idea! Wonder if I can find one in .243?

have used the Haedpuller method for years w/ following conditions.do it at nite, & set up to pick out a brite lite in the distance. per Haedpuller, center in bore, then adjust w & e. without moving a thing, insert an empty DEPRIMED case into chamber with the eraser end of a pencil, seating it as far forward as possible.re-center & re-adjust w & e if necessary.after sunrise, grab some ammo & head to da range.hope dis helpsbest, joey
