I have been looking into a rifle scope made by BSA but I can not find anyone that knows how good they actually are. Can anyone help me before I make a mistake?

I have a BSA 3-9 X 33 deerhunter on a marlin 22 mag. Havnt had one problem with it. Holds on zero, optics are clear. Took over 30 squirls with it this fall, most of them were head shots. Keep in mind it isnt a leupold, you are getting what you are paying for. I dont know how they would hold up with the shock of a more powerfull calaber. With a 7mm mag, I would say get a leupold, I have one on my 7mm mag and couldnt say a bad thing about it. [This message has been edited by Nate (edited 12-09-2001).]

True. That is something I forgot to add. I would be mounting it on a 7mm rem mag. Thanks.

7MM Mag? You need something rugged, like say a Leupold. I had a BSA on a .270 and it just didn't work out. Spend the dough, you'll be happy you did!

I have a BSA Contender on my .308 works fine but I have an B&L 4200 Elite on my 378 and I do believe the $250.00 difference is worth it. Even though the BSA works one day it will be replaced by a better scope.

Nikon Monarch equals the optics and toughness for the Leupold Vari-X III for less money. Check out www.bearbasin.com for good prices and good service.

I have a 3 of BSA's on 1 on a.22's, 1 on an AR-15, and 1 0n a Remington 700 .308 ... They work fine, hold their zero pretty well but on a large calibur I'd want something known to be a little tougher ...

Sorry guys, but Bear Basin Outfitters has done very well by me and at the best prices I can find, I sorta thought some folks here would be interested, but of course they don't build anything for .218 Bees.Chuck, I have not had a need to return a Nikon scope for repairs, but I do file all of my receipts and warrenties on firearms and and scopes so I have them if needed for Warrenty or insurence purposes. Except, of course, the old ones. Just a suggestion.

I only got one cheap BSA and it was crap. Simmons was a good operating and warrenteed scope. Leupold and Redfield come next. Never had a problem with a Simmons 50 to 100 dollar scope on a high powered rifle. I am selling a Leupold online on Ebay right now. It is a 3x9 Var X IIHope that helpsEric

I have been shooting rifles for over three decades and have broken a scope made by almost every manufacturer at one time or another. The only one I haven't broke is Zeiss. All failures were because of recoil except one BSA that just fogged up and I threw it down a cliff. BSA is as good as any for warrenty purposes, they will replace a broken scope quicker than Leupold or Nikon, but not as fast as Simmons. I now have Simmons Air rifle scopes on all my large caliber hunting rifles because they can take the recoil and I can depend on them to work when needed. On my target rifles I still use Nikon & Leupold. My 22's carry Simmons or Redfield or Weaver.
