Danish M1s

I am contemplating the purchase of a surplus M1 Garand from the CMP. Does anyone have any experience with the Danish M1s they have for sale? I have read the history of these rifles, but have not heard from anyone who has owned or used one. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

They are all WWII era Springfield Armory and Winchesters. While well maintained, some have seen a lot a service and look it. All have been altered to some extent; most have had a brass disk inlaid in the stock, and the serial # stamped on the bottom. Most had had parts replaced with a mix of Danish and Italian parts. Some have come with scarce original WWII parts.A good value at $420, but before buying one I would recommend buying at least 1 service grade rifle for an extra $100; the service grade rifles will always have collector value, as they are genuine USGI.Neal

I know of two people who own Danish M1's. One is is in great shape and still has all american parts. The other has the brass disc in the stock, several replacement parts, and does not look so good. Both shoot very good. When ordering from CMP its hit or miss on the condition your gun will be in.
