WHAT IS THE DIFFERANCE IN THE TWO, IS THE QUALITY AS GOOD OR BETTER NOW, THE OLDER ONESARE ALL TWICE THE PRICE. LOOKING FOR A 380 I HAVE SEEN SOME 32 CAL GERMAN MADE GUNS AT NOT TO BAD OF A PRICE DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERANCE FROM A 380 TO A 32 AS FAR AS VELOCITY & BULLET WEIGHT, IS THE 380 BETTER THAN THE 32??[This message has been edited by mhanson (edited 12-12-2001).]

The PPK is the compact virsion of the PP, it holds 1 less round..older pistols were made in Germany, newer ones made by Interarms in the USA..German guns sell much higher..

I have two of both the Interarms and the the German made. Although the German Walther is better made I don't think it's worth the extra$250 dollars. My two interarms function perfectly and one shoots just as accurately as the German. In a pocket pistol function goes before accuracy so don't worry about the Interarms - it'll do just fine!

The .380 has more power though there is some current .32 ammo that is claimed to be pretty potent. The PP and PPK/S is accurate for what it is, especially in .22 cal and probably because of the rigid barrel mounting.Single action trigger pull is good and double action is smooth but a little heavy.Sights on later ones are good.If I were looking for one it would be German with the aluminum frame. If you're considering this class of pocket auto also look at the Remington 51 in .380. It's a better gun if you can live with SAO. It's lighter, thinner, has better grip angle, has both grip and mag disconnect safeties and nothing to hang up on the draw.

I have a German 1967 380 PPK/S and consider it much better than the PPK. Outstanding German workmanship. The extra 1/4" or so in the grip length over the PPK/S is like having a PPK with the finger extention mag. The PPK/S also gives you and additional cartridge. Much better than USA made Walthers.

I have owned ppk's and ppks's from different eras and there is a marked difference. The modern ppk is crap compared to the older model. Feel the double action trigger pull and you will see it is not smooth or particularly user friendly. The PP is a little longer in the barrel than the others. The smallest version is the PPK. If it is an older model and has a nice trigger pull, it may be worth having as a concealed carry, but I tried a modern PPK and got rid of it in favor of a KAHR MK9 and a KAHR MK 40. Either one kicks its butt and costs about the same. Other than that the Walthers are reliable, good looking and accurate. I encourage you to try that trigger pull thoughtfully before you invest.Eric

I might add my experience with 15-20 of these guns. I have never had a .32 that ever jammed; I have never had a .380 that did not jam once in awhile.
