FN HP-DAO, QUESTION

I need some help guys! I've been looking for one of these pistols for sometime now. I can't find it on any of the Auction sites and my local dealers will not stock it without a down payment. The one I have found was way too high in price, and I wouldn't be able to see it until it was shipped to me. If anyone has seen this new FN HP-DA (Hi-Power Double Action Only) or has any experience with it please let me know. Here are some WebPages that have picture if you don't know what I'm talking about. http://www.remtek.com/arms/fn/bda/index.htm http://www.fnmfg.com/lawenf/hpda/hpdamain.htm Thanks to all who can help!

I've seen, handled, and priced them. In my opinion they are overpriced and underbuilt, and they won't take a Hi Power mag.

I have been interested in this pistol since I saw it at the SHOT Show. It looks like the never-produced DA High Power that was cataloged several years ago. I really like the looks of the FN, but the magazine situation is beyond me. I talked to FN about that issue and was told that the pistol was designed well before the magazine ban and no thought was given to grandfathered magazines. Even pre-ban, that does not make sense to me. A ready pool of magazines is always desirable. The shape of the trigger does not appeal to me. (It has too much curve, and pokes into the tip of my trigger finger too much.) I also am not a fan of DAO, but many are. I would buy the traditional DA instead. I will probably buy one and see if any pre-ban magazines can be adapted. Hopefully, that will be the case.

Semi-Auto & JudgeColtThanks for replies!Semi-Auto, you said that the gun was over priced. That's what I thought when I was told the suggested price over the phone. Do you remember what the price was that you were quoted? And what makes you think this gun is "under-made"? I've never held one, but would like to hear more feed back. JudgeColt, please let me know if pick one of these up. I'd love to hear more about it.thanks

I've handled one and still prefer original BHP-By Far.The stupidest design flaw on the DAO, is the dang lanyard loop on the bottom/center of the backstrap. Talk about an ugly feel with that sucker digging into your hand, just holding it-let alone under recoil.I still feel that it is an FN cop out to say they "overlooked" the magazine issue.Bullsh*t-They wanted to be politcally correct and not deal with the high cap issue! (In my opinion)Nobody and I repeat no one (company) involved with one of the greatest designs and one of the most mass produced pistols (BHP)could just "OVERLOOK" the mag issue.Friend/dealer where I saw the one had a List price of somewhere around $749 and sold for around $650 cash.SUPPORT THE NRA-Or no "mag" cap, will even be an issue!!!!!

Show prices have ranged from $550- $625. Poor finish, goofy trigger shape and horrible DAO action pull, tool marks all over it, crappy mags. Much as I like HP's, I can find nothing to like about this offering.
