I have what I think may be an original Inland M1A1 30 caliber Carbine. How can one tell if it is original, such as, is there a serial number range or some other means? Thanks!

You can't rely on the serial #.An M1A1 may be genuine original as-issued, genuine arsenal rebuilt, genuine with altered or replaced parts, or fake. There is a link on the gunandknife website that takes you to military guns. Someone has posted photos of real/fake M1A1's. If that's not enough, you might want to post a description on their carbine forum. If you have photos, that would make it a lot easier.Neal

If it's genuine,it'll have manufacturer's cartouches(proof marks)on each (major)part. Each manufacturer had its own proofmarks-there are several books available that'll help you identify them.
