I have loaded the speer 400gr jacketed soft pointin the marlin with great success. I tried the remington 405gr jacketed flat nose and it would not cycle using the published load data. Get a speer load book and follow closely. It should work great.

You won't have any problems using cast bullets from the following Lyman moulds: 457191,122,124,193,and 406. Remember, Marlin and Gov't bullets are different, and this can be troublsome if you use some larger weighted jacketed bullets in reloading. The crimping grove is set up for the Gov't round. While I've always assumed that current factory ammo is OK for both the older marlin rifles as well as those currently made, I don't know it as a fact.
