What would a marlin 1897 22 cal. lever action rifle worth that is missing parts where the firing pin and housing should be?And can you find parts for such a gun?

I have a Marlin Model 1897, and after checking serial #'s in the Blue Book found the rifle was made in 1897. I would rate the condition at somewhere close to 80% overall with case coloring NRA Fine (30-80%). 24" Round barrell, take-down, full length tube magazine and has the original Lyman, Marbles, Beaches site combo. With all of this and the fact it is a first year production, any ideas as to value?

How strong is the market right now for these rifels. I have one in about 30% origional condition. The bore is well pitted but there is rifeling for the entire length so it will probably shoot O.K. It is a 24" octogon barrel. I am wondering if it is worth enough to leave as is or to refinish it and keep it as a shooter.

I have a Marlin 1897 lever action .22 that is jammed with the lever open, and the bolt in the rearward position. (It's not mine)
I do have instructions for the Model 39, but I don't know if they are the same. There may be a stuck cartridge somewhere inside. The owner was firing CCI mini-mags in it. Brophy'y book states that early breechbolts could crack when using Hi-speed ammo, and bolts were beefed up to prevent it. This gun was made in 1900. Any expert out there who knows how to get it apart with the hammer back, the bolt open, and the lever all the way forward (open)position??
    Thanks!!

it wouldn't be worth more than 50 bucks. As it is a parts gun. However contact the outfit ---1stingunparts.com---for parts to complete your rifle. Then you can get between 200 to 1000 for it.
