I can't get the slide off my newly aquired pre-ban Ruger P89 Decocker, what am I missing besides sliding the lock lever to the left?

ok.....once the mag is out, the slide is back, and the side pine has been pulled out if you look down through the top of the mag feed you will see a little plate toward the firing pin....there is a little hook on it, and a spring and so on.....what you need to do is flip this plate forward toward the barrell with your fingers.......after that is flipped you can slide the slide off....when you reassemble you do that first, then the side pin.........hope this helps.~kaddy

Kad has told you what you need to do--I'll try to explain it too.The "ejector" actually needs to be folded-down before the slide stop pin is pushed to the left. With the slide locked-back (and keeping upward pressure on the slide stop to prevent the slide from accidentally slamming on you finger) reach into the open magazine well--you're reaching in from the top-- and fold the ejector down.Let the slide forward (the hammer will fall). Then ease-back the slide (either to the alignment marks if you have them, or line-up the "curved forward portion" of the slide with the front of the frame); you can now slide the slide stop pin to the left. (On some early models of the P-series, the slide stop pin can be completely removed.) The whole slide assembly can now be moved forward off the frame. Also: Call Ruger's Arizona plant and they'll send you an owners manual for free. (8-5 MST) 928-778-6555
