what worth, where to sell?

I have inherited approximately 300 rounds of U.S. Govt. ammunition, .30-06(or whatever the military called their version) with armor-piercing bullets(a friend of my brother-in-law, a former National Guardsman, gave it to him, who gave it to my father, who is now deceased). Though it's been around quite awhile, it is in good, firing condition, still in its storage belts, much of it neatly packed in one of those green military ammo cannisters. Can anyone advise me how much this might be worth, and how I might find a buyer?

I've seen it go for 1$ a round at showsdepending on age.to be legal I think you need to get buyers info date ,quantity...

Try editing your post to include all the info. off of the box the rounds are in, or the BOXES that the rounds are in, what ever may apply. There are numbers and dates, that sort of thing, lot number, etc. That would help also.

I would think that it's worth about 30c per round. It's difficult to sell ammo through auctions and listings, since shipping heavy ammo is quite expensive. And, any buyer is taking a chance because it may not be good any more due to poor storage.Personally, with the current paranoia about terrorists, I wouldn't want to have anything to do with AP ammo. I'd find a friend who hunts or shoots high-power and give it away for use as practice ammo, rather than risk bringing attention to myself through an ad.

robsguns: Here's the available info(no dates given): CAL. 30 BALL M2 8 RD. CLIPS BANDOLEERS LOT T.W. 19427nmyers: No risk to buyers with this stuff. It's been stored indoors, in the dry, out of the sun. I've fired a number of rounds and I can assure you that they are quite potent and accurate. Thanks for the warning about advertising them. Nevertheless I still would like to sell them - I'll just look for less-public ways of getting the word out. Perhaps someone reading this post could recommend ways of doing this.

Personally I don't think armor piercing meansvery much. I have a garand and tested all kinds of ammo when I was young, like 30 years ago. A 30-06 or 30 cal round will go thru a quarter inch steel plate no matter what kind of bullet it is. Lead tip, silver tip, m2 ball, armor piercing, etc. I even put 2x4's behind the plate and an armor piecing round went thru the metal, broke in two and BROKE both pieces of wood. You might ask gun shops if they have any and what they charge and if its's a problem to own or sell today.Frankly, I would not be interested because its not really a hunting round and being military its not all that accurate a load.I load my own for high quality.Eric

ericthered,I was shooting 3 weekends ago with my buddys brother-in-law who has a Garand and ap ammo, let me tell you this that stuf went through 1/5 in palte steel like butter. Perect holes on both sides, so we doubled it up and it stoped at 3/4 inch. That stuff is potent.Rich
Remember,"your woman may not find you handsome, But atleast she'll find ya handy". I love that show..............

a couple of young punks here were shooting up electrical transformers, power stations, and even grazed a few homes.....no one had a clue who did it until this one guy was stopped by a patrolman. the guy was on meth, and had a hunting rifle in the trunk.......it was fully loaded with AP ammo....needless to say that its somewhat frowned apon now.....

Sir,Please email me.rzarbo99@hotmail.com-If your ammo is loaded in 8 round clips as it appears, the clips alone retail for a dollar. The ammo regardless of being armor peircing is worth good money(more to some than others)I think the info you recieved so far has been conservative at best. Beware of people who say"It aint worth much, but then want to buy it"
