I have two items that I need some help with
Item # 1
Is a Diana Haus over and under 16 gauge and 8. something under the shot gun barrels. It has a # 1242 stamped on it and .7 nitro is on both barrels ???

Item # 2
A home builder in Phoenix Arizona named Ralph STAGGS had some limited eddition rifles made. The patient Number is 3276158. On[8D] the barrel is #20 30-30. Its a lever action rifle that may have been produced during the late 50's or early 60's as this was his hayday as a builder here in Az.

Can use any help on these items.

well i have a chance to purchase a marlin,lever action,in 35 remington. the rifle is in ecellent condition. it has been reworked by remington and has not been fired scince it came back. the blueing and wood is estimated to be in approx. 85% condition. i have heard 35 rem ammo. is a little difficult to obtain and exp.? could someone give me an approx.valuation on rifle and addres the ammo. availability and cost?thank you CARL

Is this a model 336A?. If so, and if were made after 1962, it is worth a little less than $200. You used the word "rifle". Does it have a magizine only 2/3rds the length of its barrel? If not, then its a carbine, and several more details would have to be given. .35 Remington cartridges are somewhat difficult to find on the shelf in certain parts of the country these days, but they are available at reasonable prices if you look on the 'net for them (the 'HZ' fee may be a bit much). It's so much easier, and less expensive in the long run, to load your own, especially if you have a buddy that reloads that can assist.

Here in the Northeast .35rems are a very popular caliber. Ammo is very easy to obtain. We sell it anywhere from $12.99 to $14.99 a box. Im not sure what you mean by reworked by Remington when this is a Marlin firearm you state.

I am sorry i meant marlin. i had 35remington on the mind. thank you for the info!!! i havent seen this yet so cant answer the carbine/rifle ? a good friend of mine is going through his collection and disposing of some of his doubles. i bought a browing superimposed from him right so am thinking he is going to give me a fair deal on this also but was concered over the ammo. i am going to Georgia this fall deer hunting in the pines and thought this and my 44mag carbine[ruger] would be good choices for this type of hunting? i understand you can legally take up to 8 deer and my cousin got three last year with an11 pointer being the largest. Hey talon,I never heard of a Hazard Charge on ammo ?

ATF. While it's shipped ground UPS, 'Sometimes' there's an extra charge; depends on factors I'm not fully awear of. For instance, check Cabelas catilog. Technically, it's not a hazzard fee, you are right, but if it walks&talks like one, it is. Otherwise it could go USPS at a lesser rate.

i AM RELOADING BUT AT THIS TIME ONLY HANDGUN AMMO. THOUGH I HAVE RELOADED SHOTSHELLS ALSO. I HAVE THE RELOADING MANUALS AND THE PRESS BUT WOULD HAVE TO SECURE DIES FOR THE CALIBER AND DONT THINK I WOULD SHOOT ENOUGH TO MAKE IT WORTHWHILE. I ALSO HAVE A 270 AND FIND IT MORE PRACTICAL TO BUY THE AMMO. AS I ONLY SHOOT LESS THAN A BOX PER YEAR.WE CAN ONLY USE SHOTGUN WITH SLUGS IN ILL. FOR DEER AND I ONLY SHOOT A FEW GROUNHOGS AND A COYOTE ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE. SHOOT MY 44MAG CARBINE A LOT MORE THAN THE RIFLE. CARL

If this is indeed, a 336 Carbine in .35 Remington, there probably isn't a better gun or cartridge for hunting deer "in the pines".
