300 Weatherby Mag

I recently won a 300 Weatherby mag, Vanguard with a Varix 1 Leoupold scope 3x9 at NWTH banquet. The gun has never been fired and has the original box, however, the gun does not fit because of the scope. The gun is also stamped on the drop plate with the NWTH logo and it says special edition #274 of 500. The question I have is, What is the guns value as it sits currently in my gun cabinet? Also, if I were to trade this gun in on another, What fair price should I trade at?
Any information or advice you guys may have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks CHRIS

The above should read NWTH not NWTH- probably wondering what the heck NWTH is .

This thing won't let me place a captial F.

I was given a 300 Weatherby Mag by my Grandfather. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about what its worth. The serial number is 29035. It was made in Germany. Its in perfect condition he only got it out to clean it. I know hes had it a long time but have no idea how to find a value for it. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanx

Not much say you email me and I'll give ya a few hundred bucks for it. xploringaz@yahoo.com well it is actually better than that it is a german one which makes it better than average and also the condition sounds very nice though. do a search on weatherby but if you like my deal I will stick to it.Rich

Well that didnt work. I already have the authenticity paper on the way but still cant find a value. I might consider selling it cause I dont have a real use for it, but first I need the locate a value for it.

Regarding your Weatherby rifle, it appears that your rifle was made by J. P. Sauer. West Germany. The Weatherby book shows production serial numbers 20001 - 43730 manufactured from 1959 - 1973.As to the worth of your rifle, a 26 inch barrel is more desireable. You don't mention if the rifle has sights or a muzzle brake. Some folks feel the sights detract from the value and others feel it adds to the value. I feel the brake adds to the value because of the recoil from the 300 cartridge. If the rifle has a scope mounted, Buehler bases and rings will bring a premimum as will a Weatherby brand scope. You don't state if you intend to keep it or sell the rifle.Based on the description you give I would insure it for $ 1000.00. If you intend to sell it expect a price range of $ 700 to $ 1200 if you still have the box and papers.Hope this helps.Jim De Witt11thcanopyjrdewitt@webtv.net
