I have a 12 & 10 ga 1887 and was wondering what loads can safely be shot. Will any light factory loads or hand loads work. Thanks,

Damascus barrels were offered as an extra cost option to the standard rolled steel barrels for this model. In one part of a Winchester book it says they were made up to 1899 and in another 1919 which is well into the smokeless era.It would be wise to determine the chamber lengths and be prepared to cut shell casings to 2 1/2". It should be entirely safe to use black powder or pyrodex if the barrels aren't corroded badly.
