CZ quality vs price???

I personally looked at a CZ bolt at a local dealer and the action and the trigger were impressive, but the fit and finish was extremely poor. I have never shot one so all I can comment on is the general feel and apperance of the piece. The piece seemed way over priced compared to a M700. The dealer had them priced higher than a 700BDL. I think that they should priced to compete with the Savage line. I don't think that I could ever be happy with one at the prices that I've seen. Am I missing the boat on a fine firearm or have I reached the right conclusion????

I'm having the same problem on this one. They seem like good guns a for a decent price, but I don't hear much about them. A guy at my local gunshop swear by em, and carries it as his primary weapon. Other than that I'm curious myself.

I got my two boys the 22 cal CZ and they are hitting bottel caps from juice containers at 100 yards. I like the litle rifle.

Actually, I just checked out the prices on CZ pistols... At that range they BETTER be good. Unless I hear great things about them, I'd stick with a Ruger P-series. They've proven reliable and are a great gun for even less money.

Lobo, How were the .22's priced compared to other similar guns? I'm sure that they are good guns, but I'm having a hard time with the prices on the larger cals. Don't get me wrong, I've purchased some expensive firearms and been very happy to do so, but I can't justify the prices on CZ's with the poor fit and finish. I would much rather spend my hard earned money on a good M700 or M77 ect.....

Ruger P-series is a line of handguns, not rifles.

The CZ line of rifles is slowly becoming more and more popular. They have a couple of different lines and the 550 Lux models cost as much or more to the dealers as the 700's that is why you are seeing those kind of prices. They are built better than the Savages but if you have to decide between a 700 or the CZ i'd probably stick with the Remington. On the handgun note, my salesmen tells me that the CZ line is the largest seller of handguns in the world. But here in the good ole USA they are slowly catching on but Id still buy the Ruger.

I have there 550 Safari mag in 416 rigby and am quite happy with it. There's a guy out of Georgia that sells quite a few of them on the auction site and his prices are about the lowest ones i've seen (shipping to MI from GA added $14 to his "buy" price)Bob

I got the boy's 22's at Turners, which is a west coast multi-store sporting goods outlet, which sometimes has good sale prices. I picked up the rifles for around $200 which was better than I could have done with comparable bolt action rifles. I bought the rifles to test CZ, because I read good things about them and the price was right. On another note my 30-06 is a Remington and I like it very much. If the CZ cost more I would also go with the Ruger if you like the feel better. I think most of today's modern firearms are better then my shooting ability so I go with feel and precision. Oh yeah, I still have the CZ motorcycle that I bought new in 1978 so maybe that helped in my decision to go with CZ.

I've been collecting BRNO & CZ guns for a number of years. It has been my experience that the CZ guns made before 1995 are of better quality than the newer ones.Again, that is my opinion. Take it or leave it.And before anyone asks CZ & BRNO are separate companys. Always have been.
