I just aquired a Browning A-5 that is just short of pristine condition
and the barrel has an "POLYCHOKE" on it. Anyone know how to remove it
without causing damage to the barrel?

You need to check the bore just past the external choke...It is most likely "cylinder" bore...NO choke at all.... If the barrel is not thick enough to install a "tube" ...internal choke tube system.... you will wind up with a cylinder bore barrel...I might suggest that you leave that one alone (and keep it for a spare or sell it) and purchase another barrrel with the choke you want or one that has already been threaded for internal tubes... Just my opinion....

There are some thin wall screw-in choke systems that might work. The barrel wall thickness at the Polychoke should first be determined.

Jim's right, the cheapest and surest thing is to buy another barrel.

Why not try the Polychoke? You might like it.

I love the poly choke I have. Nothing like being able to turn the dial and shoot whatever load you want, for whatever game you want.

    When in doubt...empty the magazine!!
