Just wanted top throw in a my advice on the choices you have. I've fired the HK USP, Sig229, Glock22 all in 40 S&W. All I know about the P99 is that the trigger takes some getting used to.
The HK and the Sig were very similar in performance to me. They are both fine quality handguns. What the rest of the board members say I have to agree with.
All I wanted to add... is get the Glock 22 and install a #3.5 connector. It makes the trigger pull a LOT smoother and it will do wonders for your accuracy.
