Can anyone tell me how the barrels on SXS double rifles are regulated? I am interested in building a double rifle and would appreciate any info/recommendations.

With a lot of time, money, ammo, and patience.
the breach section is secured together than the muzzel end is temporaly fastened together, test, re-adjust and re-test until your close. Solder in the barrel ribs, retest, re-adjust etc. final tuneing is done with a wedge driven between the barrels at the muzzle end. Now fit the sights to the barrels.
Note: it is regulated for that one load only

Its quite a chore to regulate a set of Doubles...For one thing its done in a set of Barrel Clamps that are screw adjusted..Usually 4 or 5 clamps are used...This is in conjunction with a Bench Rest to hold the Action and Barrels of the Gun your sighting in.. Then the barrels are soldered in place and then the Rib is soldered in to hold the barrels on both Top and Bottom.. Most Double Rifles are aligned at 50 to 75 Meters...as most Hunting is done at close range for the big British Doubles...And another little known aspect of sighting in a set of Doubles is that the Left Barrel is the predominate Barrel and the Right barrel is adjusted to Cross the Path of the opposite barrel when fired...Then comes the Sights and sighting in again..Its really a Pain in the Patootie for someone that hasn'nt the equipment and expertise to design and make a Bench and secure the tools and know how to Soft Solder Barrels together without over heating the Barrels and throwing them into Warp!..There's a lot more to this then meets the eye...and I can't be expected to Give Gunsmithing instructions on the WEB...If you really want a Double Rifle, I suggest that you Find a Nice Double Barrel 16 Guage Shotgun amd consider on how to convert it into a nice .444 or 45-70 Side By Side...A class at a local College that has a Gunsmith class can be of great help...I wish you well in your venture....Best.....

The left barrel first is a misconception, most of the double rifles that are well-used will show more throat erosion on the Right barrel.
Also the normal trigger sequence is front/right-back/left, and a lot of the front triggers are hinged so as to not bash the finger during recoil (which also supports firing the right barrel first).
If you truly want a SxS rifle contact Butch Searcy, he makes double rifles here in the states http://www.searcyent.com/

    Saxon,

You have your shotgun chokes reveresed. Right barrel usually
    more open then left.

Get yourself a SxS 12 or 16 guage and send it off to Briley, they will convert it to a double rifle in 45-70.
