How the heck do you use 1903 Springfield strippers

These clips have the little flanges at the end that seem to hold the cartridges in place. Ok... are you supposed to bend these out to load? I can't get the cases on the clips, and I can't strip them off into the gun without cutting off the flanges or bending them out.

JONK: the little tabs on the end of the Stripper Clip is what keeps the Cartridges from falling out of the Clip Before and After inserting into the Reciever, Magazine Well...After inserting into Mortised End of Reciever, the Clip will stand, allowing you to place pressure with your Thumb on the Top cartridge and Push the 5 Cartridges into the Magazine Well...This pressure forces the Bottom Cartridge to push open the Little tabs in discussion and after loading the Magazine you retrieve the Clip For reloading..dependending upon wither or not the tab is still in place and usable...Sometimes the tab will break off and at that point it no longer functions as intended...Discard it ..Best.....

They were designed for one time use.

Ah. Any reason they can't be reused? I mean, even without the tabs, shouldn't they work as well as any Mauser type stripper? For combat it may not work, but for use at the range it shouldn't be a problem, right?

This is experience talking. Once the tabs are off, you can reload the strip and if very careful use it. The cartridges have a tendency to fall out however, as the spring in the 1903 strip is not as strong as in other strips.

The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!

Use a rubber band to keep ammo on the stripper clip when a tab is broken off.
