Was looking at Ruger auctions and I kept seeing Ruger P94 9mm's for sale? I must have been living in a cave for a while because I own a P94 and it's a .40 caliber. So what's the deal with a P94 9mm?

    For PreBanFan:

Looking at the Ruger catalogue, the P94 comes in either 9mm or .40 auto. I chose the .40 auto in stainless. The only problem I had with it, and it was major, was that it jammed right out of the box. Jammed like crazy even after 500 rounds. Ruger had me send it back. They did some milling work, changed the extractor, and now it fires flawlessly. With the Hogue grips and all the accuracy isn't bad for a $400 pistol.

This part is scuttlebut. At a recent gun show a dealer told me Ruger had lots of trouble with the P94 (jamming) but ONLY in the .40 caliber. The 9's work great. I have a friend who fires a P95 (polymer 9mm) and it has never had a problem. His broker sold it new to him for $255. Doubt if you could get that price today.

I have some info on the Ruger P94, Ruger made fewer of these in .40 caliber than they did in 9mm. I personaly own one in .40 caliber and had it about four years. I have never had my gun jam, but that could depend on the type of ammo used some guns are ammo picky even with quality ammo. I dont like to shoot mine excessivly because it has a beautiful satin stainless slide etc, however it has always cleaned up nicely. I might be a little to picky with my firearms but thats a different story. However Ruger stands behind their products and Im sure if you had any problems with either caliber the folks at Ruger will solve your problems. and I think all of the P94 .40 calibers have a satin stainless finish.
