the p-14 will have a large safety lever on right side of receiver that moves forward and backward. a mauser will have a wing safety lever on the back of the bolt that swings left and right or it may have the commercial safety lever which is a small button on right side that goes forward and backwards. the p-14 will have a bent bolt handle, sort of like a dog-leg looking thing while the mauser will be pretty straight or slightly wsept back. the mauser was the more popular action by far for small companies building sporting rifles in the 1940's to 1960's.

    i never make misteakes.
