In the words of Rodney King.....

I am relatively new to the GB message forums, but I have noticed quite a bit of sniping back and forth between various users. I have also noticed that when someone asks a legitimate question of the board, that person often receives sarcastic, sometimes mean-spirited responses. Many people are new to the shooting sports and are interested in learning, but when they get ripped apart because some "experts" feel they asked a stupid question, they will think twice before posting another question on the boards. I really think that sarcasm and put downs discourage many people from pursuing knowledge. How many times have you been in a gunshop and a customer walks in who doesn't know a thing about guns. He or she is looking for some guidance and instead the gunshop employee will treat a newcomer with disdain and arrogance. We have to encourage new people to join our ranks, not discourage them with sarcasm. As Rodney King asked as he was being pummeled into the sand..."Can't we all just get along"?

    Chris,

King aside, you have a point. If this board grows it has to be from new guys. Some will bail in the face of a hard reply. I asked a (what some will call a dumb question) tonight because I can't get the bolt inserted into my new rifle. I don't care if guys slam me. That doesn't happen here as much as you might think. I've learned a lot here. Just brush off the comments that really suck!

    Good luck,

I totally agree. I admit letting some of the responses get to me and is trying not to let it get to me in the future. Sometimes you just have to respond when someone misreads your post and gives an uncalled for response which makes you look stupid. As far as I am concerned, there are no dumb questions, except the ones you don't ask. If these EXPERTS feel some questions are dumb, they should just shut up and let someone else answer instead of giving a DUMB answer themselves.
I've learned alot from this forum and is truly greatful for all the help I got and will continue to seek more advice from the true experts here no matter how much I get slammed. I think most people here are great and helpful, it's just those handful of @$$#0le$ that normally give their unwanted 2 cents that's a pain sometimes. Otherwise, it's still a great site for me. GD
