Thompson or BAR Foregrip ID help

Dear experts, I have just picked up what was sold to me as a Thompson submachinegun foregrip at an Army surplus store. It appears to be a shorter version than what you would normally see on a Thompson. In fact, I believe it is not a Thompson foregrip at all. It won't fit my 1927A1 and I have been told that it won't fit he 1928. Some seem to think that it is a BAR foregrip. Can any of you tell from the data below:

It is in origional wrapper and is marked as follows:
FSN:1010-706-6636
FORE END: P/N C7790610 1ea AAF03-73-C-1982 A-1974
Wrapper numbered as follows:
MIL-F-22191 TYPE III LPSC-NEWARK,NJ
MIL-B-117D
STYLE II TYPE1 CLASS B 8-73

Overall length 6", width 1 & 3/4", 5/8" slot about 4.5" long
Two countersunk holes in countersunk slot on other side 1 & 1/8" center to center.

Could you shead any light on the subject as to what it will actually fit so I can auction it off? Thanks, Dwight Browning
