has anyone else had experiance with the gun dealer=READ POSTING GUIDELINES...{ITS NOT ALLOWED IN THIS FORUM OR ANY OTHER FORUM TO CRITISISE ANY INDIVIDUAL OR DEALER OR ANY MEMBER OF GUNBROKER...IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT TAKE IT TO THE PROPER CHANNEL FOR HELP IN RESOLVING THE PROBLEM.....} i did and did not like the deal that went down so i backed out of it and give them the rating of f and they responded with name calling and badgering in the response column. i was trying to be professional and they had to resort to petty name calling. anyone else had trouble?

What caused you to back out of the deal?

well chris, they told me when i asked what model that i bidded on that it was an "X" and i looked this model up in three gun books and it did not exist for this manufacturer. well needless to say i was a little leary, because if they don't know what model they have then how can they intelligentley market the firearm. i guess it was a trust issue. maybe i am a little paranoid. clarkey

I don't believe that you were justified in trashing this dealer.

The #1 rule of auction bidding is that you should know what it is that you are bidding on, and you should know all conditions of the sale, BEFORE you place a bid. If the description doesn't sound right to you, it is your responsibility to research the item and ask questions of the seller before you place a bid. Just last week there was a discussion about a S&W 842 that was posted; the problem with that item was just that the seller wasn't familiar with the item that he was selling. This could have been the same thing.

You were in the wrong on this one.

i have to agree with nmyers on this one. know what you are bidding on before bidding. if unsure ask before making bid. a couple of times i have bid on stuff and then found out it wasn't what i thought it was. tough cookies for me, man. i bought the items and learned from the experience. now, if the the seller is lying or not revealing something, that's different. but it sounds like you bid first and asked questions later.

    i never make misteakes.

It seems that 95% of feedback ratings are A+, 4% are F, and the others somewhere in between. As a dealer who has over 440 A+ posts and nothing less than an A+, I think A+ and F are used too loosly. An F should not be posted unless all the gunbroker rules are followed, including the "resolving a dispute" guidlines. Did you attempt to resolve the dispute by using gunborker rules? If you didn't and posted an F, the dealer had every right to be hot.

As a buyer and not a seller, I agree with nmyers. In every transaction you make online or off, it has always been buyer beware, and it always will be, you are responsible for looking out for your own interests, and I think making an effort to uncover all information about an item of interest BEFORE making an offer or bid is your responsibility...due diligence. You neged this guy and he might have made an honest mistake, and that neg could have a bad influence on his livelihood. If you were the winning bidder you should pay for the item.

i did not bid first and ask questions later! i took him at his word and then i researched it. as a gunbroker gun dealer he needs to know what he is selling and not go about it loosely if indeed that is his livelihood. if you think that i am wrong then fine that is your opinion, but why do YOU think they did the name calling.and what would you say if you were in my boots?

I wasn't trying to offend you, you asked for opinions and I offered mine. I never take anyone at their word...I always do my due dilligence...I always assume that everyone is out to get me and go from there...and no, I'm not paranoid, just perceptive. As for why he resorted to name calling, you negatively impacted his business and he was pissed, just human nature. I personally subscibe to the theory that sarcasm and name calling are the last resort of a weak mind...but not everyone feels that way. Again, take no offence at my opinion, if you feel justified in your actions, thats fine, I only offer another perspective that you might consider viewing it from.

and who ever heard of buyer beware in this day and age?it is all about service and knowledge of the product you are selling!i know because i am a salesman for a automotive paint and body shop equipment wholesaler. take it from me with over 17 yrs exp. KNOW THE PRODUCT YOU SELL.and if you are into name calling there is a place for you on the playground, you will fit right in. clarkey
