LOOKING TO GET ONE OF THESE RIFLES FROM S.O.G. PRICE SEEMS FAIR. DID ANYONE GET ONE FROM THEM RECENTLY? PRICE IS NO WHERE NEAR THE REAL THING, BUT IS IT WORTH IT @ ~$370.00? THANKS AGAIN IN ADVANCE, GD.

Any comments or advice for someone who is thinking of purchasing a cetme 308 would be great. Are they good rifles? Whats the range of travel for a 308.

    Thanks

Does anyone have factual info on advisability of using 7.62mm NATO ammo in the CETME semi auto rifle. I can find nothing against using it, but scuttlebutt has it that this ammo is TOO hot for the design.

I have aquired a century arms cetme 308 caliber. Can someone give me a brief history and direct me to someone who would have a parts/ service manual. Also I would like to find an a expert on the rifle who could direct me to sources of parts and tech knowledge.

When shooting my CETME, I have to cycle the first round that is chambered from the magazine before the gun will fire. The rest of the magazine will fire without a problem. Any suggestions?

In my opinion I'd deffinetly say its worth it. Don't have one yet, but handled one at the gunshop, and fit&finish seems great. I'd actually say for the price its a steel. I heard that the spanish govt. was paying like $10,000 a rifle for them.

These are fun guns. Most require removal of a ton of grease and perhaps some tinkering to get rolling, but are well worth the money.
The receiver/parts kits used to sell for more than the complete guns go for now. Be sure to wear hearing protection when you take your Cetme out to shoot, they are loud!

    Gentlemen,
I am new at this so don't all chastise me at once. Just what is a CTME? What is the caliber, who made it, and how does it compare with the rifles offered by Century and or Hesse?

It was a precursor to the G3 made by HK. Same roller block system and charging handle, but with a wooden forearm and stock. The trigger mechanism is different also. It shoots the standard NATO .308 round and is pretty accurate. I can blast soda cans at 100 yards easily. Mine is one of the earlier ones with a Hesse SS receiver, you can tell by the paddle wheel rear sight instead of the roller drum rear sight the G3 uses.

    Hope this helps, Mike

That's true on price, I just threw it out as a reference and figure everyone can do their own math. I figure it'll cost me ~$450 to $500 delivered with all fees, etc. I am a little familiar with this type of rifle but wanted to know how SOG's particular rifle stood up. I think I'll order one next week and will let you guys know how I like it after I take i to range. GD

Punchie, that does not sound too good. What's their excuse?
Please post what they say. Thanks, GD
