LC Smith SxS with Hammers Question

Can anyone tell me how much and how old a LC Smith double barrel with hammers in good condition might be worth? I can find anything about it. Thanks

We need more info--such as markings on barrels, damascus or steel, engraving pattern on receiver, stampings on barrel flats and water table, etc. In short, as much as you can tell us.

Well lets see........on the bottom of the barrel it says "Royal Steel" and looks like a "LEH" and "CC4"......on top of barrel it says "Hunter Arms Co. Fulton, NY".....It has LC Smith of sideplates but there is no engraving.....the serial number 163979 F....the forearm has checkering. Thanks

As near as I can tell, you have a field grade gun made in 1909. Because it has fluid steel tubes, this gun can be condidered safe to shoot with smokeless loads (assuming you've had them relieved for the slightly longer modern rounds).

Value is dependent on condition, but will be rather low compared to the fancier grades. Hammered or hammerless, a Smith in well used, but good mechanical condition, will pull somewhere around $500.00 retail.
The same gun with better finish will rapidly climb the scale by up to several hundred dollars.

If you had one of the smaller gauges (which you don't), value could easily double. No matter though, this is a nice gun. Pass it down to your son and hope he passes it to his. With any care the old Elcee will outlast any of us.
