AMT Automag II

Hey guys,
I puchased an amt automag II from my father and the gun jams up like there is no tommorow usually every other round. I have been told to try different ammo, I have tried every 22 mag shell I can find in it it seems to run best off of cci maxi mag v. I was also told there is a feed ramp problem but the person who told me this has never looked at the pistol. I was wondering if this is a common proble with AMT's or if the problem is just not hot enough ammunition. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

I just got a used Automag II, it's in great shape but has the standard automag II problem of jamming every other round. I've cleaned it, including the little holes in the barrel, and tried several different types of ammo and still the same problem. It seems like the brass isn't thrown clear from the ejector pin and the next round jams against it. ( I may not be using the correct term/part names - what i'm calling the ejector pin is the clip on the side of the slide that grabs the rim on the brass to pull it out of the chamber). It seems like the ejector is holding the brass too tight. any thoghts?

Does anyone know if the slide should lock open when the magazine is empty? I didn't get a manual with the gun, but for a gun in great shape (except for jamming) for $200 I thought i'd take a chance.

    thanks

I just purchase one. New in the box - original model before Hi Standard. Can you give me any information on keeping it running smoothly? Is there a secret to keeping the gas ports clean? Any special lubricants or tricks?

    markneilarney,

Welcome to the forum boards, here on GunBroker.

There is no special formula to keep them running, but I do believe they suggest to use Winchester Super-X ammunition only, from the factory.

I know that some love them, and some love to hate them. I am with the later group, as I had so much problems with them, I wouldn't even order one for any customer's who wanted one any more. I put a lifetime warranty on everything that went out my door, and those and Mossberg shotguns, cost me a lot of money.

There are several threads on these, here in the "EXPERTS" boards, if you use the search icon.
