870 Saftey switch from right to left

I would like to change the safety on my 870, so that I can put it on fire with my left hand while it's shouldered (I'm left handed). I have done a little research and I've seen the replacement buttons. Some of the reviews I've read say those are unreliable. That is unacceptable in my opinion. Remington sells an entire trigger group/assembly for this. Is this the best/safest bet? I don't like to put anything on fire till right before I pull the trigger.
Thanks for your advice/experience.
Bob

Consider this, being left handed myself and growing up with a model 12 ( which slam fires) I developed the movement of safety off, chamber open , handle back. This puts my hands where they should be and smoothly move the handle forward as I mount to the shoulder. I never like the button safeties even when correct for left hand. Gloves give you a problem and it requires you to find the trigger.

Also this how I handle the gun shooting trap, chamber open and close when it's my turn.

I'm left handed and any Remington
(in my time) with a cross bolt safety
I had to change over for "lefty use"
At one time they were very hard to find.
Only once did I have an issue.
I install one and the trigger had some drag.
I used a hook honer (my first gunsmith tool)
ran it over either the trigger of the safety
and no more problem. Once you see how the safety
works, you'll nary have a problem.
If you can get the use of a lathe, you can spit'em out
    by the dozens-quickly.

you can get a Rem. 'trigger plate' (trigger gard casting)for l.h., all the other parts will fit. Williams used to make l.h. saftys for the 870 (and others) and you may be able to fine one of those also.
EDIT; The only difference in the trigger plate is the location of the hole for the safty detent ball & spring, r.h is right of center, l.h. is left of center

IIRC, and I did one for my daughter, the buttons are physically the same I did order a left hand safety and installed it with no issues It looked the same to me other than the button color. If you swap the current button around I'm pretty sure it now becomes a left hand safe. I could be wrong but that's what I remember

Bad memory I guess I do know many years ago I bought a left hand safety from Remington for an LT20 . I still have the gun with the LH safety in it and with the original RH safety

If you have an older gun with a pin instead of a ball detent , you'll need to change it over to a ball . At least for a Williams L/H safety , you do !
