Large rifle primers in Pistols

Now that primers are in short supply I find I have more rifle primers than pistol primers.I did the search forum and I found info on using small rifle in pistols and most responses were that it was OK but no info on using large rifle in pistols (45ACP)Is there a safety issue? I know large primers are harder maybe a little hotter but magnum primers are hotter also.Safety is my main concern.

Edit: I should clarify, first: do the primers protrude from the case? I wrote that they are taller. If they don't you are fine, but if they do you could go full auto. You did say this was .45acp. I have seen high primers slam fire and if they are sticking out or are "high" this is what "may" happen.
I have attempted to fire rifle primers in handguns in the past, with a lot of aggravation. Experiment with small quantities to make sure that they are compatible with the handgun you intend to use them in, i.e. hangfires can be quite dangerous if your not expecting them.
I use rifle primers in my handguns, both large and small, with no problems.
Ditto. I have used rifle and pistol primers interchangably when needed many times over the past 40 years and have never had any safety or ignition problems.
