question on the auction side

Has the topic of a personal messaging system for GB buyers and sellers ever been brought up? Since I'm not around email much I seem to miss a few questions about my listings even though I list my cell number on all of my auctions but people still tend to email. I think it might be a good option but since it is not available I figured there was a good reason. Thanks.

To much potential for hanky panky, i.e the auction makes their money from the items actually bid and won on the auction. If PM was in use without actually going through the auction, there would be to much temptation for cutting under the table deals, without the auction getting their cut. IMHO.
How would a PM system be any different from a personal email between the buyer and seller? I think that it would be nice to see any messages as soon as you log into GB and not have to deal with being around a certain computer with an email address.
And don't worry, I am not planning on shill bidding[;)][:D]
OTOH, ebay makes both parties run all contacts through them, even to the point of using a bot to "read" your communications so that they can bust you for giving out an email address. Apparently Meg Whitman has hired the best of the Stasi.
The current GB system works pretty well for everyone; personally, I prefer emails because they are documented, so no possibility of a mistaken interpretation later. I'd leave it alone.

If you have an auction going on GB, a potential bidder can send you a question through GB & you then have the person's email address. So, if both parties want to work the system, you could probably work out a deal "off auction", but both parties would give up GB protection.

You can get around that very easily by putting spaces between letters and simply a .c at the end.
