Does anyone have any information on muzzle velocity and effective range of the Tula Ammo .223 75 grain hollow point out of a 20-inch
    barrel Bushmaster H-Bar?

I don't want to invest in a case or two of this stuff until I get some opinions on it. I live in a rural area so penetrating neighbor's walls isn't a factor..

I know Tula has been around for a long time but I have very little info on their current products.

Yes and Yes, It's steel cased commercial stuff made in Russia, for the US market. As long as you have a descent quality AK, ( not some bubba's homemade hack job ), it will make your AK happy.

    Yes, I've used it.
    Yes, its steel cased.
    Yes, it works fine.

Its basically comparable to the steel cased "Wolf" ammo, or maybe even a bit better.

You may have noticed that the 7.62x39 cartridge itself is cone shaped (much more so than most cartridges). This design was on purpose to facilitate extraction with steel cartridges.

In other words, unlike most other cartridges, 7.62x39 is *supposed* to be run with steel cases; brass is really a "luxury" here and not necessary.

Consequently, all AKM and SKS rifles are designed to be run with steel cased ammo.

As the others have said, it will be fine in an AK (probably fine, even in one of "bubba's homemade hack-jobs").

It shoots just as well in my AKs as Wolf, Silver Bear, Norinco, or any of the other steel-cased imported AK ammo.

As stated, you're GTG. Tula was made for AK's.
