Springfield 1896 (1895) Carbine

Thoughts on the below carbine appreciated, correctness and value. Particularly the stock below the trigger, no "circle P" but has what appears to be a "55" stamped there instead. Is the stock "wrong"? No visible cartouche on the side either.
Everything else seems right to me but my experience on this is lacking and the "55" troubles me. I intend to list on the auction side and don't want to list it as "correct" if it is not.
Thanks for your time.

Don't know about the lack of markings on the stock? If your carbine is correct likely it would have very substantial collectors value.
