Yugo SKS parts

Anybody know what nationality parts kit can be successfully built on a Yugo SKS receiver? I know in the AK world, Yugos are their own thing. This is my first build on the SKS and I need to be sure I procure the correct parts kit without buying something that either won't work at all, or will require major smithing to render it operable. Any firsthand experience?

As you said, Yugos are their own world. It is the heaviest SKS because some parts are larger than those of other makers; supposedly, that is because they lacked some element needed for steel production & compensated by enlarging some parts. Which ones, we don't know; you are on your own.

Only complete rifles were imported, to my knowledge. Stripped receivers & parts kits are likely from individuals who lost or damaged parts, & are trying to get something out of what they have left.

Good luck with your build, & I'm sure others on this forum would appreciate learning the problems you encounter.

Unless you really luck out. The only surplus parts that will be readily available are Chinese. Like Neal said, trying to fit ChiCom parts to a Yugo receiver likely is going to turn into a can of worms.

Unless you know for a absolute fact that the parts are from another Yugo. Don't buy them unless you can get a return guarantee, if they aren't a drop in fit. If the parts have to be fitted, your aren't going to know if it really will work?
