Nay....the Mini-14 one I owned in the past ended up in the trash...the AK ones became targets. The couple different pistol ones I tried were not reliable..

    I own none now...

My Mini 14 mags worked OK, but all the other promags were suspect at best. For pistol I like Mecgar. For rifle there are better ones. Look around.

quote:Everything I've heard about these is that they are hit and miss. Some work, some don't. Some models they almost never work, some models they usually do, and within a given model, you may have some that work and some that don't.

I guess this sums it up. The ones for my 228 were garbage, Browning hi power ones work sometimes, and the ones for my 1911 were terrible. But the ones I bought in the 90s for my Mini worked OK.
If its the only thing available right now there is a reason: No one else wants it!

    Bought 12 for the Mini-14

4 Wouldn't even fit in the rifle's magazine well.

6 That did fit jammed with in 5 rounds

    2 Fed reliably.

Plural of anectdote is not data.

That said, count me as a Nay vote.

Got one for my 1911, while it loads and feeds fine, it is darn near impossible to remove. I actually had to lock the action open, and use a chopstick to press down on the mag follower until I could push the mag out from the top while holding the mag release down.

Everything I've heard about these is that they are hit and miss. Some work, some don't. Some models they almost never work, some models they usually do, and within a given model, you may have some that work and some that don't.

The only gun I've tried these for myself is the SIG P210.

The mags load, feed, and eject perfectly fine, but the follower won't lock the slide back.

While that's not ideal, given that factory SIG P210 mags are extremely difficult to find, and if you can find any they typically cost $120, I can live with that in a practice mag that costs under $20.

My bottom line on these is that if you can get and afford better, you probably should, but if you can't, the Promags might be OK. If you have the ability to return ones that don't work after testing them, so much the better.

When it comes to aftermarket handgun magazines MEC-GAR is the only way to go.

Got one for my FiveSeven pistol. It would not feed. It went into the trash. Junk!
