.308 FMJ Plain Base

Does anyone make a 30 caliber (.308) FMJ 150 grain bullet that is NOT boat tailed. That just has a plain flat base. I've looked at Midway, Natchez and others with no luck.

The WW2 fmj was flat base IIRC. Newer fmj has been bevel based for many years and most manufacturers simply duplicate the basic design so their bullets match what is found in military ammo.

Edit: Remainder of long list of non-FMJ flat base 150 grain bullets removed.

MG1890, you're right. I completely missed the FMJ part. . .sorry about that.

These are hollowpoint, but they're flat based and otherwise FMJ:

    Ditto for these:
    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/767242/barnes-multi-purpose-green-mpg-bullets-30-caliber-308-diameter-150-grain-hollow-point-flat-base-lead-free-box-of-50

Note that US military is using 168 grain (boat-tailed) "ballistic" hollowpoint .308 now because they're more accurate. Their lawyers say that because the bullets are not DESIGNED to expand, they're Hague-convention compliant.

Sierra has a 125 grain flat base matchking round that's FMJ, but flat base.

I can tell you for sure that Hornady, Sierra, Nosler, Speer, Remington and Norma do NOT currently offer any flat based 150 grain FMJ bullets. Not sure anyone else does either and my guess is you're going to have a heck of a time finding any currently manufactured ones.

The military and accuracy shooters want boat-tailed for longer range and wind resistance, and the hunting guys want soft point (if not both soft point AND boat-tailed). So I don't think there is any demand for what you're describing.

Out of curiosity, may I ask, why do you want them?

If you're after the military M1-Garand load, you should be able to duplicate it using boat-tailed bullets, and if anything they'll just perform better.

You are looking for M2(150 gr) ball bullets as used in .30-06 military ammo. These are hard to find though.

I was looking to duplicate GI load for a 1903 Springfield. Thanks everyone for your input.
