BB Machine Gun

Years ago, someone was selling a freon powered BB machine gun. I've looked and haven't been able to find it - of course with the cost of freon these days one would want to change it over to air power. Does anyone out there have a source on these old ones ?The newer Japanese ones are low power, I'm told and are very expensive.(I'm still after those Taliban Crows stealing my pecans and crapping on my cars!)ThanksJim

they were advertised in the back pages of outdoor mags decades ago. cost $30 & source was in ohio or possibly illinios - been a long time, but still have that sucker. converted it to compressed air in a portable tank with flex supply line.........all tucked into a GI ALICE pack. what a system. some grand times were had & it got me into all kinds o' trouble with very little effort.biggest drawback was logistics - couldn't carry enough BB's to feed it, and everybody wanted their crack with it. typically, the lads would head out for a few hours of fun only to completely exhaust all ammo in no time. passed around the hat & a quick run into town for more copperheads and well, y'all get the idea. my misspent youth !best, joey

This post really brings back the memories of all the fun and trouble I used to get into with my BB guns! I remember seeing ads for the freon gun. I also recall several of us thinking very seriously about getting it, but none of us wanted to chance having it sent to our homes, only to have mom find it sitting on the doorstep. We did buy lots of Crosman and Daisy products from the Big 5 down the street, many of which we altered for concealment. The Coke-can silencers, however, were the best idea we came up with. We used PVC pipe, drilled a bunch of holes into it and fit this around the end of the barrel. If it was the proper size and if we made the cut-out around the front sight properly, it fit on the gun very tightly. Next, we took a coke can and aligned with the hole in the top, we punched a hole in the bottom and pushed the PVC through. We took the PVC out, stuffed in as much steel wool into the can as possible and put the PVC back through. Finally, we duck-taped the whole thing to keep the can from sliding off the pipe. Fitted to my Daisy repeater pistol, this little silencer cut the sound so well, all you could hear was the snap of the trigger. During our nightime, impromptu BB-gun wars with kids in the neighborhood, we were a feared bunch of kids! Oh, the joys of my youth! [This message has been edited by duster68 (edited 12-14-2001).]

I have one. They were made in Florida and unfortunately no longer are being made. Any freon will work, provided the can has a plain flat top that the piercing tool will work on. One drawback is that the newer freon does not work all that well. At one time the company made an adapter for an air compressor. 60 psi is the max. I would like to convert mine, but have not tried it. If anyone knows how, it could be a lot of fun.

Maybe you could convert to CO2 like the paintball guns and cannons. My kid is into that sort of thing and he is continually trying to make his paintball equipment nuclear.

Since asking about the BB Machine Guns, I've found several candidates. The best one is about $300, and I've seen a mpeg of it cutting full coke cans in half at 20 yards! I've also found plans to build a UZI bb gun for $5.Now I have a few things to work with. Thanks for all your responses.JJ
