The stuff on the front part of the yellow form. Name, DOB, race, sex, place of birth, state of residence. If you supply a SSN, that's given too.Only the type of firearms is given: handgun, longgun or both. No serial numbers, make/model, etc. Not even the number of firearms being purchased is given.

You do not have to give them your SSN. It's purely voluntary to do so.Just thought I'd reiterate this point.

turbo- definately worth reiterating again. DO NOT PUT YOUR SS ON THE FORM. Every time I have bought a gun, the seller has insisted that it is not optional, and that I have to give them my number. I tell them I will not buy the gun, and after hemming and hawing, consulting with managers, trying to guilt me into doing my civil duty, they finally agree that I do not need to write my SS number.

That's true. You do not have to give your SSN.But... if you have anything close to a common name prepare to get delayed.

Supplying the SSN is generally not good. It is just one more place where you can cause a delay. Say your SSN is 123-45-6789. Now, let's say that Chester the Molester's SSN is 123-45-6798. The time before last when Chester was arrested, the booking officer interposed two numbers on the SSN. It happens. Now Chester goes into the NCIC system with YOUR SSN. Give that SSN on a 4473 and it will get a hit.Back when I did not know you weren't supposed to do this, I got a delay on a lady who gave her SSN. I immediately called in a new check on her, and left off the SSN. It was a proceed.

Here in Utah they don't ask for a SS # when I call for a search. They ask what second form of I.D was, long or hand gun,and Drivers lic.#......unless the buyer has a CCP,then they are just given that # and they clear in less than a minute most of the time.Oro
