Basicly it`s a 110 Savage rifle action,it is as strong an action as you will find. There is no doubt in my mind that it is a great choice!.218(proud owner of about 28 Savage long guns)

I have shot one in 22-250 for some time now, and you won't go wrong with one. It is extremely accurate and has a very comfortable grip configuration. It is easily the equal of any of my XP's. I do have a Holland Ultra brake on mine to cut the recoil, so muzzle blast is incredible, but well worth the tradeoff for long distance varminting.

rjpeacock, you say they are as accurate as the Rem's? How about one of the thompson center encore pistols with tha 14" barrel?

JustC. The only Encore I have played with much with the 14" is the 6BR. It will shoot tighter than you can hold it seems. The 22-250 Ackley Improved Encore that I have wears a 18 inch barrel in a pistol configuration. I have a 6 to 24 power rifle scope on this, and have had it group 15 consecutive shots into a 5" gong at 300 yards. This was with me and three other shooters alternating shots. It just seems to shoot right where you are looking at. Lots of fun. It too has a factore Virgin Valley muzzle brake and the world just sort of turns yellowish/orange when the trigger breaks. Ferocous muzzle blast, but the gun barely moves.

rjpeacock, thanks, I will have to do some more investigation into the savages. I have been thinking about a .243. Buddy has a 7mm-08 14" and it shoots well, but with no brake it is stimulating to say the least.

One thing about the Stryker. The factory trigger leaves a bit to be desired if used to a Silhouette quality trigger. I had a good gunsmith rework my trigger and would advise you do also. It will cut your groups considerably. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Stryker. I'm pretty impressed with them, and I've played with most of the pistols out there. Russ
