Don't even consider it....A felony will really put a crimp in your gun ownership[This message has been edited by JIM STARK (edited 12-21-2001).]

What about mailing a gun broken down in "parts" in a couple of separate boxes?

Everything except the receiver is ok w/o using an FFL. The frame or receiver would still have to go through an FFL, correct me if I'm wrong.

You can SEND without an FFL but it must go UPS or FedEx and it must be RECIEVED by an FFL holder. It also must go overnight.

SaxonPig is right about the serial numbered part, but just to clarify, it still applies to the frame/receiver (BATF considers that "part" the gun). Browning Hi-Powers, Glocks and many other firearms have serial numbers on the barrel, slide and possibly other parts. It would be OK to send a serialized barrel or slide, etc. w/o going through an FFL. The frame/receiver by law MUST be serialized and therefore MUST go through an FFL.

SaxonPig,There is nothing in the California laws which forbids a non-licensee from shipping a firearm to a licensee (except for so called "assault weapons").
