Does anyone know anything about the new Xtreme Duty pistols by Springfield Armory. I like the way they look and thinking about getting one. Does anyone know if they make them or do they import them from some other manufacturer. I was told that they do, but dont know who from.

It's the HD2000 from Yugoslavia. S/A now imports them branded under their name and bumped the price.

Had one out to the range last week for testing. The gun was a .40 caliber model. In the first magazine there were two FTF. However after that there were no malfunctions in more that 400 rounds of shooting by 7 shooters. The gun had good combat accuracy I could shoot 3-4" inch hand held groups @25 yds. The gun seems to be very ergonomic (feels better than a glock in the hand) and the trigger was very good. It is to bad SA bumped the price of these guns up.

I really like the looks of the SA and I have had one in my hands before. I am forced to carry Glock but if I had to choose I would consider the SA. Does anyone know the L/E magazine capactiy on them.

It is the HS2000 from Croatia. Springfield took over the design. They figured their name would have more clout in this country. Unfortunately, at the price they are selling them at, they won't be a whole lot less than a Glock. The HS2000 has gotten very good revues from those who have tried it. A lot of the distributors let there sales people shoot them when they came out. Every one of them I talked to, liked the gun. When the HS2000 came out, the price was high, then they lowered it by almost $100. Now with the new import through Springfield, (along with the new hyped up name), the gun is going to be even more than the original HS2000 price. They have a grip safety, a safety in the trigger (like Glock), a chamber loaded indicator, and use metal mags. The mag release is ambidextrious, unlike the Glock. The HS2000 was only available in 9mm. The new gun is available in 9mm and 40S&W. I suspect the mags will cost more now too. Springfield pulled the same stunt years ago with their P9 series guns. They were just a EAA Witness with Springfield's name on it and a $100-150 higher price. Good gun, but they were cheaper to buy before Springfield got their hand into it. Same situation here. As for the gun, I personally like the way the grip fits. They have the tactical rail on the front of the frame, good trigger pull, the take down is like a Sig combined with a Glock, and they have a good track record for function. Their biggest drawback was nobody ever knew Croatia could make a gun that people would be interested in. I have nothing against Croatia, just previously uncharted territory in the way of gun manufacturing, at least in this country.

It is an excellent shooter. I quit taking my Glock 17 to the range because I enjoy this one . Fits, feels , shoots as good as the Glock. Good safety features too. Loaded chamber indicator, and a cocked indicator. Ive put a 1000 reloads through it with zero problems. 10 round clinton mags, Law can get 15. S& W model 59 hi cap mags fit with a hole drilled in it and are legal. It could be the new Glock!!!

I haven't seen one yet. Is it a polymer frame? What's the approximate out-the-door selling price?

The Springfield is about $400, the HS-2000, which is the same gun, is about $300. So S/A just put their name on it and jacked up the price $100. Typical. You can go to hsarms.com, or the Springfield Armory site, Springfield-armory.com
