My dilema its has follows...I have owned a mak 90 for around 3yrs. I love my mak 90 because if it looks and reliability. Clips ammo and drums are cheap. I have notice that most of people choose the ar 15 over the ak's. In magazines and different articles i have read, i notice that u are more able to cuztomize a ar 15 more that a ak. They are more accurate and they are much lighter in rifle and magazines weight. The armed forces, police and other goverment agencies used them also.My question...Should or shouldnt trade my mak 90 for a ar 15?If so which brand of ar 15 i should choose. Im very inclined with Olympic armsThanks in advance

Yes, make the trade. Bushmaster makes a great rifle for the money. Beach

DON'T TRADE....YOU NEED BOTH! The difference of opinion on which is a better battle rifle will continue regardless of what anyone says. Under certain circumstances I'd definately choose my AK orver my AR. A couple of reasons for choosing the AK over the AR would be deer hunting or extreme weather conditions.A wise man once told me, "I'm of the opinion that a person needs several guns to choose from, depending on the situation".Keep your AK and buy an AR. Then look for something in .308.

I might get burned by our loyal AR shooters in here but here goes....AK's are generally sturdier than an AR. I have sevral and maintenance is almost non-existant on the AK's in comparison to AR's.The AR's on the other hand is way more accurate than any AK I have ever seen (or will ever see)perform. As far as accessorizing, both systems have an abundance of aftermarket parts available. In my opionion, keep your AK and spring for the Bushmaster....it wont hurt to have both, like most of us here already do.-smooth

I agree with smooth_operator. I also have them both, and he's right on the money.

All good advice here. An AK would be my first choice to defend my life, but the AR has over 30 years history in our military giving it a big cool factor.I think police and Federal organizations are obligated to buy American, just like they are with their vehicles. Seeing a local police officer with an AK between the seats would be like seeing them driving a Toyota truck, just doesn't look right, even if the Toyota cost the town less and might be more reliable.

Ok, now I only have one (bulgarian) because I just sold my MAADI for $300 at the gunshow a few hours ago. But still, reliability wise, its AK. If you are not in the habit of "spray and pray", you need an AR....guaranteed to connect.-Smooth

Keep the AK and buy the Olympic.Take a look at the 16" barreled upper with full stock and sight mounted up front. It has a 6" greater sight radius than the std carbine. With a wide world of available options, getting into ARs is a hobby in itself.

THANKS A LOT TO ALL OF YOU.I appreciate thy wisdom given to me on these subject. I will keep my mak-90 i have around 15 30rds clips and 3 75rds drums. I will consider seriously on buying a ar-15. I like the lightness on it. My girlfriend is more inclined to shoot a ar-15 than a ak. thanks again and please feel free to enlighted me with more opinions or feedbacks on the subject.
